My third book, Closing Arguments for Twelve-Stepping Lawyers, is available.
International Lawyers in A.A. has a weekly online meeting which closes with a short meditation or reading. Closing Arguments for Twelve-Stepping Lawyers is a collection of some of these closings.
This compilation is in three parts. The first part focuses on the Ninth Step Promises in the Big Book; looking at these Promises as a contract. Each meditation dwells on a clause of the contract, using lawyerly rules of construction and analysis. The book’s second part is a clause-by-clause analysis of the Lord’s Prayer. The third is a detailed analysis of all the prayers described in the Big Book.
The book is legalistic, but written straightforwardly and accessible to all.
I enjoyed writing this book. Applying rules of interpretation and construction to these elements of our Program and the Lord’s Prayer focused my thinking and revealed new insights and possibilities.
