What We Can Learn From Returners’ Journeys

A path winding through difficult terrain leading toward a bright sunrise

I am looking forward to taping the upcoming podcast series on working with returners, people who have slipped and are coming back.

Though it is aimed at AA Members, the lessons have general application. We all know people who make commitments and slip. It could be diets, exercise, chewing nails, or smoking. The list goes on and on.

We in AA have lessons and insights that can benefit the world. We are the masters of addiction.

AA started the world revolution in addiction and recovery. We are the leading edge of work with humans and addiction. Imagine the world without AA. Alcoholism would not be handled like a disease. Insurers and employers would not recognize addiction as a treatable condition, only a grounds for termination. We would not have departments and Ministries dedicated to addiction.

AA has changed the world, and we must keep on changing the world.

Back to the upcoming podcast: The series is focused on returners—people who have slipped in sobriety—but the lessons have broad application.
