I have a supplementary note for the first time since I started this blog. The last blog discussed the verbs forgiving and forgetting and the combination of these two words.
John R. noted that the forgiving and forgetting distinction was a good one. And he enjoyed the post.
However, he gently pointed out that I had missed the worst combination of forgive and forget. The worst, by far, is don’t forgive and don’t forget. How could I have missed that combination?
Of course, if I don’t forgive and don’t forget, the harm and damage I suffered weigh on me. And the resentment grows, fed by the recollection.
And the recollection, like a fine wine, improves with time.
John also points out that vengeance and retribution usually flow from not forgiving and not forgetting.
John, thanks.
