Monkeying around with your Program

The topic of the meeting was sponsorship.

Our AA brother started by sharing, “I took my bike into the garage last week.”

“That was the first time it had been into the garage for three years.  For three years, I have been wrenching it myself.

“They did a great job; it was like I had a new bike.  It has more power, rides smoother, and the gearbox is smooth as silk.  Everything about the bike is better.

“I thought that I was doing pretty well wrenching on my own.  But it turns out that the mechanics in the garage know a lot more than me.”

We burst out in laughter at his next comment, “I have been wrenching my Program too.  I wonder, maybe I should call my sponsor.  My Program might be like my bike, works okay, but in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing, it could be a lot better.”

Motorcycles and Programs are both better when wrenched by someone with knowledge.
