Years ago, on a business trip in another city, I attended a downtown morning AA meeting. I walked by a homeless shelter to get to the meeting; a couple of fellows were attending with all their worldly possessions.

I attended an AA meeting in Thunder Bay, a small mid-western Canadian town. It was a men’s meeting. The topic was “the benefits of sobriety.”

Road Trip
At a recent AA meeting, the topic was spiritual progress. A friend shared, and he connected some interesting dots.

Dr. Bob worked with thousands of drunks in Akron. But, after spending as much as 4 or 6 hours with them, many declined to “follow our path.” They were not “ready to go to any length” to get what we have.

We love our holidays in the deep south.
I recall one day in particular. We were driving through the Low Country of South Carolina on a two-lane back road, a meandering drive through farming country, fields of cotton and corn. The car windows were lowered; we could smell the soft, warm air.
