I remember seeing bumper stickers that read “God is my Co-Pilot.”
I have felt that statement in my life. There are times when that is the truth for me. God is the Co-Pilot and I am in the driver’s seat. And when that happens, it does not go well. So why someone would brag about that with a bumper sticker is beyond me.
It is when God is the Pilot, when he has, as they say, “the right seat” that I am in good shape. When He is running things and flying my life, it works. When I take over, not so much.
Sometimes God is the Navigator and then I pick and choose what I will do or not do. I have final say on what defects are removed, what course of action will be taken, etc. I am in charge.
Sometimes I believe in God’s abundance, then he is the flight engineer, making sure I have the horsepower and the fuel to get to the destination. But I am still flying the plane, not Him.
It is best when He is flying the plane and I am the Co-Pilot; that I know from experience.
Bumper stickers are sometimes right on the money. But this one does not work for me.
