At a meeting last week someone shared that “the heart is a
divine antenna.”
An antenna picks up invisible radio and radar waves. These waves cannot be seen or heard by normal ears. But the waves carry information; and that information can be heard and understood.

Tale of Two Quotes
“God will never give us more than we can handle.”
I have learned that this is not true. The world often gives me more than I can handle; that is why I have to turn to God.
And,
“We can safely turn our will and lives over to the care and protection of God.”
This, on the other hand, is true. It works, and I have seen and lived this fact.
How I see is what I see
I wear glasses to improve my vision.
My glasses alter what I see. My glasses don’t change the outside world, but they do change the picture of the world that is created inside my head. The screen in my mind sees the world differently when I put my glasses on. The lenses of my glasses bend the flow of light that my mind receives. The result is greater clarity and focus.
Our Understooding of God
In the Steps, when we refer to how we think about God, the past tense is used. We talk about “God as we understood Him,” not “God as we understand Him.”
What genius Bill W. and the old timers possessed in writing the Big Book. That difference in tense, from present to past, is enormous. They could have said “understand” as easily as they said “understood”; but with that little change, they shifted the entire meaning.
Who is flying the plane?
I remember seeing bumper stickers that read “God is my Co-Pilot.”
I have felt that statement in my life. There are times when that is the truth for me. God is the Co-Pilot and I am in the driver’s seat. And when that happens, it does not go well. So why someone would brag about that with a bumper sticker is beyond me.
The power to kneel
I heard a great share the other night:
“Humility gives me the strength to stand up and the willingness to kneel down.”
Humility may be the most complex word that Bill uses in the Big Book. It is rich in meaning and texture. Moreover, when humility is practiced as he suggests, it is as powerful and multi-dimensional as this share suggests. It changes the paradigms of life and allows an inner strength that is transformational to flow in our lives.
